Jehovah's Witness spared jail over grooming girl
by Researchedandenlightened inhttp://www.hartlepoolmail.co.uk/news/crime/jehovah-s-witness-spared-jail-over-grooming-girl-1-7551106.
a jehovah's witness who groomed a girl has walked free from court.. .
richard ogilvie was given a suspended prison sentence after a judge ruled his conduct was 'bad, but not as bad as some cases we see before these courts'.. the victim's father said he 'understands and accepts' the sentence and hopes the sex offender treatment ogilvie receives will prevent another child and family suffering at his hands.. .

Uk is behind the curve when it comes to pedophilia as are some red state judges in the U.S. They will learn. -

Baptism is it really a dedication to God, where in the Bible?
by Crazyguy ini haven't found a scripture where it says that baptism is a dedication to god.
i have only found in the book of acts chapter 2 i believe where baptism is for forgiveness of sins.
am i wrong?

Many religions view dedication to God as a promise to do his will. Child dedications for example do not assume salvation but a promise to bring that child up "in the faith". Hannah was a barren wife who promised to dedicate her child to God if He would give her a son (1 Samuel 1:11). Luke 2:22 begins the account of Mary and Joseph taking Jesus to the temple after forty days in order to dedicate Him to the Lord. This was slightly more involved since it involved a sacrifice, but once again this ceremony did not indicate any level of salvation.
JWs view Baptism as the public display of the dedication they have previously made to serve Jehovah.

Disfellowshipped at a funeral
by Yogapants inrecently at a funeral for an active jw, death was sudden and tragic.
was surprised that that one of the disfellowshipped children of the deceased was comforted by the jw's at the funeral.
i would say the majority hugged and said a few short words to the disfellowshipped child on the recieving line to comfort the family.

Its still frowned upon and certain elders will take issue with it even months after the fact, but I've seen DFd children(even well into adulthood) receive condolences and attention at funerals and gatherings in homes after funerals. I've also seen certain elders be complete assholes and demand that the DFd child not be present at the gathering in the home or elsewhere after the funeral. Some going as far as causing the majority in attendance to leave when the DFd child or family refuse to be excluded or exclude. -

Your thoughts on Halloween , yes, no or maybe ?
by Finkelstein inwell its that time again when the ghouls come out to play.
i personally think halloween is a bit irresponsible and inappropriate from a sociological perspective.. there's something about the intent of frightening young impressionable children minds with frightening objests.
and feeding them candy which most likely cause tooth decay and stomachs is irresponsible activity conducted by adults.

Our neighborhood transforms into a major block party, with hollywood set style walk through fright zones in front yards. It is quite a production. Its fun. Everyone is happy. All ages. Get to know the people in the community better. If you overthink everything chances are you will scarcely leave the house. -

Did Jesus really die on a cross?
by macys inbeing raised a catholic we had lots of crosses around the house.
when my family converted to this cult they were all removed and destroyed in case they had demons in them lol but at this juncture in my life i do not even know if jesus as the way he is portrayed in the bible was real.
yes a man named jesus did live and die 2000 years ago and probably on a cross but he was definitely not the son of god.

No carts in Australia?
by Festus ina friend of mine visited australia and to his surprise there were no jw carts on streets.. wonder if it was just a coincidence or is it due to media attention that arc has created?.

Cart witnessing is proving to be problematic in many locations for a bunch of reasons. The JWs in my local cities have set up at various times for a couple of weekends but then disappear for months. It may be a combination of many city entities demanding they disappear and the JWs getting tired of the drama. I'm sure it is similar in many locations globally. -

Does one device need to be hardwired to the modem/router via Ethernet cable? Is the second device located anywhere, and will it transmit wirelessly to boost signal or must it be hardwired into the computer, tv, console, etc? -

This works across the board with the custodial or non custodial parent as well. Most often the court ruling will be that "neither" parent can impose religious training upon the minor. Seems fair enough to me.
